Between Me and The Night is the debut adventure project for a group of British developers. The style of the game clearly balances on the verge of the real and the surreal.
The main character is a red-haired guy, his name is not disclosed. A feature of the boy is his very strange and colorful dreams. In them, the gamer will have to control the lyrical hero and complete the tasks set by the dream. At night, he is a brave knight with a serrated sword, bringing pain and death to crowds of enemies. So in "Between Me and the Night" the inner battle with the fears of a little boy is beaten.
When the protagonist is awake, he explores his huge dwelling, with a bunch of secrets and puzzles of varying degrees of difficulty. In the house, the game transforms into a point-n-click quest. You have an inventory of 5 slots to gather what you need and unlock new rooms in the strange mansion. If the boy does not sleep for a long time, a dark and evil spirit will begin to haunt him. He will eat the hero in a second, but he can be scared away with the light of a flashlight.
In a dream, the gameplay is filled with action as much as possible. You need to cut out crowds of enemies with a sword and hide behind a shield. In the mind of the protagonist, it is constantly snowing and a cold, piercing wind is blowing. Visually, the two worlds are very different from each other in the light range. Throughout 3 chapters, there are also side tasks that can be completed in parallel with the main tasks, for example, collecting stickers for a poster in the redhead's room, collecting a console, listening to found audio cassettes, and collecting toy soldiers.
