Abyss Odyssey is a Chilean indie project that incorporates many different mechanics from various genres. The combat system is straight out of a fighting game, with punch and finisher combos, a camera and perspective from 2D platformers, and randomly generated levels from roguelike games. At the start, there are three different protagonists to choose from: Katrien, the Ghost Monks, and the goddess Pinkoya.
The purpose of the journey of heroes will be to search in the depths of the Earth for an ancient evil sorcerer with great knowledge, who poisons the city of Santiago in Chile with his desires. The 19th century was chosen as the time of action and style, interspersed with fictional and non-existent in the real world. The protagonists are destined to spend their lives in endless battles with nightmarish creatures in the vast halls of the dungeons.
A distinctive feature of the gameplay is the soul capture mechanic. To activate this ability, you need to steal his essence from a beaten and almost dead enemy. Thanks to this, the main characters will learn to take their form and use their unique abilities. In total, there are more than 30 types of opponents available in the Odyssey Abyss, all of which can be used by gamers after being captured. In addition to hand-to-hand fights and with the use of melee weapons, it is possible to find magic scrolls with spells in locations, for example, freezing or casting a curse on enemy units.
It is possible to invite a friend to a cooperative passage both on the same computer in split-screen mode, and over the network. There is also a special "Versus" mode for 2-4 players, where you can fight each other in the format of each for yourself or in teams.
