A war of any scale is a terrible, irreparable catastrophe that, like a beast, bites into the hearts of warring peoples and without pity takes away the best from them, destroys the most beautiful. This is a real curse, forcing humanity to give way to cruelty, and mercy to deceit. But at the same time, war sometimes in a bizarre way unites the lives of people, weaving them with bloody chains and turning colleagues into brothers in arms. And how can one stay aside when a brother is a helpless victim of the enemy? Unable to remain idle, several fearless partners equip an armored jeep and land on the shore occupied by the enemy with the sole purpose of breaking enemy resistance and rescuing their true friends from numerous prisoner of war camps. And, of course, you and I will have to drive the jeep directly.
Watching the battlefield from above, we must guide a lone green jeep through all the barriers and blockades, overcome numerous gates and bridges and emerge victorious from many dozens of battles with hostile tanks, turrets, aircraft and ordinary infantrymen. We have a powerful rapid-fire machine gun at our disposal, from which you can always fire due north, and a grenade launcher that sends grenades in any direction and subsequently gives way to a rocket launcher. What is especially nice is the unlimited ammo, but in Jackalthe enemy quickly nullifies this advantage with his numbers and unparalleled courage. And besides - and this feature gives the game a fair share of tactics - our combat vehicle, although fast and good, can not withstand even one hit even from the simplest soldier's rifle. Therefore, death from an accidental shot here is a common thing. An even greater danger is a certain probability that after death and rebirth you will find yourself in some inappropriate place (for example, in the middle of a river) or, at the behest of the computer, move off the screen, and the whole operation will have to start from the very beginning. Well, it's annoying, but on the other hand, this is another reason to play carefully and be careful.
However, the enemies, after all, also do not differ in particular strength, and the same infantrymen can be completely fearlessly crushed in this way - if only they do not have time to make the last decisive shot before death ... Also, our machine gun differs from enemy guns in a significantly longer firing range, although it only shoots in one direction. And the rocket launcher already mentioned above pleases both with the speed of the projectile and the radius of destruction, so we still have something to surprise the enemy hordes.
Prisoners, whom we, in fact, have to release and transport to special evacuation sites - helipads - also have a certain function that is different from the source of additional points. It is for their release that our detachment is awarded a rocket launcher, so it is categorically not recommended to let the prison buildings through, where friendly troops may be.
But than Jackalespecially pleased with its incomparable atmosphere. This game is proof that even in those days, the gameplay could be fast, fast-paced, exciting the blood - exactly the way it is now fashionable to characterize the word "drive". When you, under the crossfire of two turrets and four submachine gunners, rush at a wild speed to the powerful metal gates, blowing them up with a mortar on the move and breaking into the fortified village of a stunned enemy, then comes the understanding of why the game is so attractive, how it makes to return to yourself even after dozens of failed attempts and hundreds of lost jeeps. A classic that has no analogues. An incomparable example of a creation that will fill the hearts of thousands and thousands of gamers with joy for a long time to come.
