Flight Simulator 1942: The Pacific Air War takes the player into World War II, primarily in battles taking place between Japan and the United States. Collisions that occur in the Pacific Ocean affect time periods up to 1945. In the gameplay, the user will become a participant in sea, land and air battles.
Before the session, you can choose a side: USA or Japan. Each level offers its own set of tasks, number of opponents, location, allies and other elements of the war. During operations, the player will need to defend territories, destroy given targets or liberate cities from opponents. There is a military campaign that includes sequential levels with a pre-launch briefing and standing orders during clashes. Wargame offers match customization and getting different tasks.
In story mode, the gamer is able to control air forces, naval ships and land bases using a strategic map. The user can sit down at any plane and control it from the first or third person. The virtual cockpit is a view from the pilot's eyes, and the buttons, levers and control systems are accurately modeled after models of real mechanisms. There are 10 types of aircraft, each of them has an original characteristic and weapons. Weather conditions affect visibility and other vehicle functions. Making sudden maneuvers, the character will undergo an overload, which is accompanied by darkness in the eyes and possible loss of consciousness
