1979 Revolution is an interactive movie adventure game based on real historical events and eyewitness accounts of the Islamic Revolution. The collectibles and objects that the player needs to complete are copies of archival materials, including photographs, videotapes, etc.
The game takes place in the seventies, before a radical religious regime was introduced in the country. The main character is a young photographer, Reza Shirazi, who, by the will of fate, ended up in Iran in the midst of unrest caused by the arbitrariness of the local Shah and the secret police controlled by him. In 1979 Revolution, personal stories and events of a national scale are harmoniously intertwined, real historical figures and fictional characters coexist, each of whom you begin to empathize with (for example, Reza's best friend, the ideologist of a bloodless revolution, deserved special love from the players).
The gameplay is an interactive film with a lot of dialogue and choice, as well as small locations that provide the player with relative freedom of action. The process of photography through which Reza tries to document what is happening allows the player to see real pictures taken more than 40 years ago in the same places and under the same circumstances.
