Alone in the Dark 2 is a representative of the Survival Horror genre. It has action elements. In the project "Alone in the Darkness 2" the scene has changed. Louisiana has been replaced by California. It was there that the main character went on Christmas Eve in 1924. At that time, he is investigating the case of the kidnapping of Grace Sanders. The detective is accompanied by Ted Stryker. The setting also changed in the sequel. Voodoo magic and a pirate theme appeared. During the search for a girl and a criminal named One-Eyed Jack, the hero will find himself in an old mansion, visit the garden and caves, step on the deck of a corsair ship and look into other locations.
The second part differs markedly from its predecessor. The gameplay turned out to be more linear and dynamic. Searching every closet in the hope of finding a quest item is no longer necessary, and the inventory has lost its weight restrictions. There are fewer puzzles (but their complexity has not decreased), and the number of fights, on the contrary, has increased. At the same time, most often here you have to fight not with monsters, but with bandits possessed by evil spirits. There are boss fights. Often, opponents are armed with firearms, even if they are the living dead. In battles with them, you need to fight carefully, because first-aid kits and cartridges are not always enough here.
