39 Days to Mars is an adventure designed for 2 users. There is also a single player mode in which the player will be accompanied by a ship's cat. However, the main emphasis is on co-op due to the specifics of the game mechanics. The game is made in a minimalistic steampunk style. Players take control of Albert Wicks and Clarence Baxter, 19th century inventors. Two friends decide to go to Mars. The adventurers managed to get a small amount of money from the British government, and now they are designing a spaceship that runs on coal and steam power.
The puzzle platformer combines action elements when unreliable structures fall apart right in front of your eyes, creating emergency situations. The adventure takes 39 game days and is accompanied by a lot of puzzles. By joint efforts, we need to lay pipes, create new nodes, and build communications. The puzzles in the game are not too difficult, but there are no hints. The gameplay is conditionally divided into 2 parts: preparation and the flight itself. The vehicle must first be built, and then have time to repair the parts that fall off when going into space.
A feature of the steampunk trip can be called a light atmosphere and British humor. Inventors think about space octopuses, worry about cooling tea and forget to untie the rope. A permanent place in the everyday life of travelers is reserved for tea. Only thanks to well-coordinated work will it be possible to prepare drinks of the right temperature and sweets required by the task.
