Apotheon is an ancient Greek themed platform game. Zeus became disillusioned with mortals and ordered the gods to leave mankind. They did just that, and with them the sun, fish from the rivers and other joys of life disappeared. Hera did not agree with the categoricalness of her husband and secretly recruited the strongest hero. The local Hercules visits the celestials in order to persuade them to the side of the people. Those who do not want to cooperate will die.
The game has its own combat system, which adapts to the weapon that is currently in hand. Each weapon has its own zone of destruction and speed of strikes. Spears allow you to fight at a distance, but due to their weight they are not fast. Daggers are light and do a lot of damage, but are applied close to the enemy.
It is noteworthy that one type of weapon is capable of inflicting several types of wounds. The sword allows for stabbing and slashing attacks. In addition to the above equipment, the arsenal includes maces, axes, arrows and burning projectiles. The equipment quickly breaks down, but a new one takes its place. In his left hand, the Greek holds a shield or torch. Character movements are realistic. It increases the speed of running gradually, and slows down on the steps.
Each level is a multi-storey labyrinth with task points. Locations are inhabited by opponents and civilians. They go about their usual business: gladiators fight among themselves, satyrs hunt game, and so on. Everywhere there are caches and secret areas, such as a passage to the bottom of the lake, where the witch sells spells to summon animals.
In addition to performing feats, the hero visits the city. There you can break into enclosed spaces and get unique weapons. But you should be careful - local law enforcement agencies will attack if they see a violation of the rules. A blacksmith's shop is available for legal visits, where equipment is improved, as well as a healer's house with first-aid kits and potion recipes.
