Ascendant uses beat 'em up mechanics combined with roguelike elements such as randomness and permanent death. There is no complete plot. The indie project is dedicated to the confrontation of the demigods. Initially, there are several playable characters. The variety of fighters can be increased to 7 by unlocking new heroes for completing challenges.
The levels are randomly generated. They are divided into zones with enemies and traps, chests, random events, shops and bosses. After the death of the superman (there are no checkpoints and usual saves here), you will have to start all over again. In Ascendant, with each run, the order in which objects appear and their location changes. Keys are required to open treasure chests and doors. They are given as a reward for defeating the leaders.
Demigods differ in appearance and characteristics. They are able to beat opponents up close, fire a long-range attack, use magic, make a dash and parry. The game has pumping. The selected warrior is allowed to improve by collecting blessings (the effect will be different depending on which slot the bonus is inserted into) and buying weapons with spells. Spells also allow you to upgrade. During the passage, new power-ups and weapons become available. Opponents can be beaten together with a friend, but only sitting together in front of one computer. There is no online mode.
