ASTRAL is a 2D side-scrolling horror game. Events unfold in the near future. In 2022, most of humanity has turned into bloodthirsty mutants due to an epidemic that has spread throughout the world. The rest of the survivors hide in bunkers.
In ASTRAL we play as a little boy. The military experimented on him. After the experienced experiments, the child becomes immune to the infection that has destroyed the planet. The protagonist goes on a journey to the shelter of the survivors in order to share his immunity with them. Actions take place somewhere in Russia. The short indie game has the atmosphere of a post-Soviet apocalypse.
The character is defenseless against monsters. He can run, jump, climb stairs and interact with objects (move boxes, press buttons and stuff like that). It is necessary to hide or run away from the monsters, otherwise they will kill the young savior. During the passage, the protagonist will acquire a device that allows you to control opponents. This item gives us the ability to switch to creatures and fully control them. After finding this gadget, the gameplay changes a bit. Puzzles appear, for the solution of which you need to properly sacrifice enemies. With their help, you can destroy large blockages or distract the attention of automatic turrets.
