Like many indie games, Avoiron is built on a certain idea, for which the creators deliberately sacrificed the rest. The backstory is as follows - a few hundred years ago, a cataclysm almost destroyed the entire galaxy. Since then, no one has been able to break into the central regions of the galaxy. There are rumors of a strange race of aliens that have appeared in this most isolated center. And they know how to break through the unexplored barrier. But no one has contacted them yet. There are also legends about the mysterious metal "Avorion", which also appeared in the center of the galaxy. And the aliens obviously have something to do with it.
First of all, this is a sandbox. You start with a small ship and travel between different galaxies. At your discretion, you can trade between different stations and create your own galactic trading empire - each ship can be given to AI control and given some simple task. You can hunt various pirates, take tasks to eliminate those who are objectionable to the law and receive good rewards. If you survive. Or you can become a pirate yourself. Rob merchant ships, raid stations, and so on. You can do a peaceful mining business. Crack asteroids and meteorites, mine valuable ore, process it and sell it, improve tools and search further for precious resources.
But what you will definitely do in any of these cases is to create a ship. And here the developers have laid out to the fullest. Avorion offers a very advanced ship builder where you only have the basics of a ship at the start. Everything else you create yourself. You yourself place living quarters, power cells, loopholes and points for turrets, rocket launchers, oxygen generators, armor elements and solar panels. And each block has its own characteristics, depending on what material you use.
Your ship has a well-developed physical model. If you put extra armor plates, then the mass and balance of the structure will change. The ship will take longer to accelerate and decelerate, which can be compensated by additional engines. Which also weigh something and consume additional energy. You will have to independently think over the design of your ship and create its appearance in a three-dimensional constructor by blocks. At first, such ships look unsightly and simple. But over time, you can create a whole fleet of small and nimble fighters at your discretion. Or, on the contrary, you can create a huge and invincible star cruiser.
